Love it to bits.

I have always said that the more flimsy our cars, the less accidents there
will be.

Your picture is worth a thousand words.

The chairman of Citroen once said that the safest car in the world
would be made of glass, with a six inch spike sticking out of the
centre of the steering wheel.

Didn't we used to have that back before collaspable steering columns?

As far as I'm concerned, talking on the phone while driving should be
punishable at least as harshly, if not more so, than driving while drunk.

Thanks,

I agree! Half of the people I follow while they are talking, are driving
like they've been drinking-Seriously! It's frightening.
They can't stay in thier own lane,or read a speed limit sign (either
going way over,or way under the speed limit) or be bothered to use a
turn signal.

Hang up and *Drive*. -WAKE UP- Pay attention while you rocket your 4-ton
SUV down the road... Sheesh,is it too much to ask to just be careful..
It's not just *my* @$$ it'll save, but *YOURS* too! (possibly your
children,or somebody elses children,or father,mother,brother,etc,etc,etc)

Dammit! Wrong again. It was the administrator of Reault, Pierre Lefaucheux.

Nah - they've got seat belts, shoulder harnesses, kid seats, air bags,
crush zones, roll bars - all kinds of crap to protect them from the
consequences of their own negligence.

I still say this is the way to stop traffic deaths:

ya, people were stupid then as well.
But they used to pay the price for their stupidity. Clearly, the
politicos want the stupid to survive and breed like cats so they
have lots of stupid voters to get elected by.

Hell, it's already happening - just look at the latest election.

And if their kids were killed because they _weren't_ buckled up, then
you'd condemn that as an act of negligence as well... You're a real

i think maybe what he's getting at is the fact that some people never, not
once, think about things outside the vehicle when they are driving, often
from a sense that they are protected. running into something will often
elicit the response, i'll get a bigger vehicle next time. so, how many of
you know a soccer mom that drives a huge vehicle, like a hummer? one
that's had several accidents, that has gotten larger vehicles each time?
it may be a very small number, but it's that kind that are a menace. how
many know a repeat drunk driver that's survived solely because of their
airbag? that's another menace. protecting oneself is a very important
consideration, but forgetting that there's other people on the other side
of the steel and glass is worthy of severe punishment, not just in case of
driving impaired.
well, i'm digging into diatribe territory, so i'll leave a pair of words,
summary execution.

But do you really think that's more dangerous than using the cupholder for
its intended purpose while driving? I think talking to somebody in the car
is about as distracting as talking on the phone.

i believe there were some studies done that showed talking to a person was
less distracting than holding a cell phone and talking, i don't remember
what distraction the hands free phones caused, probably a lot during
dialing.
