My primary complaint with Netscape's email (my favorite of the
old abandoned clients) was its integration with the browser, but
Thunderbird should solve that issue, while retaining the great
Netscape features that I like (I still use it at work).
My favorite Browser is now Opera which also features an integrated email
client. Since I don't use it as my primary email client (that's pine) I
don't know how well it handles and organizes large numbers of emails, but
I think it has all kinds of automatic sorting/filtering, POP and MIME
support yadda yadda yadda... if its email features are half as good as its
browser functionalities then it must be a very good GUI mail client. I
gladly paid the 34,00 for my ad-free version.

Hmm, maybe I'll try Thunderbird
I'm using Thunderbird - it's fine as long as you have a
machine faster than 500MHz or so. It does email *and* news,
and in fact I use it mainly for news - it's better than the
other free alternatives.

Now, if I empty my picovolt.com email box using
some other email client, whatever, how can I get
whatever good email is in that pile integrated
into the rest of my email for permanent storage?
This is possible. Maybe 2 ways.

1) Download mail, but flag reader to NOT delete on the server after
download.
2) DO flag reader to delete messages on the server when they're deleted
locally.
3) Nuke the garbage; readers deletes only those messages on the server.
4) Fix your normal mail reader
5) Download & delete from the server using your fixed Bat.

Check out Netscape Navigator - maybe even an old version (4.76 works
well). It supports these settings.

Or...

1) Download all using a new reader as normal
2) Filter, reply, etc.
3) Fix favored reader
4) Forward all messages to self as attachments
5) Download into favored reader
5) Detach attachments and file in org folders as desired.

This trick is effective with full-blown Outlook (can't say for others),
and the extracted messages retain their original headers as if they were
received directly.

Good luck!

Yep, Guy, that's right my home email is broken. (Actually, I had
already answered you here on s.e.d. when you asked the question a
few weeks ago, "Yes I got them just fine, thank you very much.")
Anyway, y'all folks can still reach me at my work email, which is
hill[at-sign]rowland.haaarvaaad.eduknow-what, requiring a little
editing, natch. As for my broken home email, my client (The Bat!)
refused to accept my old addresses and email info after I re-loaded
Windows-XP, and while temporarily dealing with this I was loath to
start retrieving stuff into a different email client, permanently
separating the new mail from my longtime email dataset. Then I
began to appreciate not struggling thorough several hundred spams
each day (the ones not caught by Spam Assassin), and let the matter
slide. Shortly thereafter my 100MB mailbox filled up.

Now I don't even want to think about cleaning it out. But soon I
must, to stop the over-use charges. <sigh> I'm afraid the
internet email system is badly broken. But you knew that.

Thanks,
- Win

this was stuck in the outbox:

Yeah, especially now that Guy has posted your correctly formatted email
address in his original message...!
I noticed that. Had to control the urge to flame. That's why I don't
even post a munged addy anymore.

Be prepared for a lot of spam... A long
time ago I posted a single message in UseNet using my real email address and
was flooded with spam for several weeks afterwards.

Costas

Right, I handled over 10,000 emails in a 3-day period.
Sheesh, that's probably some kind of record.

Thanks,
