In this case, it's clear that this individual appears to have had to give up on
his arguments, perhaps so thinly veiled and poorly made that they only gave him
grief over the long run so that finally in his frustration he had to resort to
such name calling. But I've no idea how quoting this kind of mean-spirited
retort contributes to any kind of useful debate of the issues between people. I
suppose it gives some visceral satisfaction at a childish level.

ability to discuss the merits of the philosophy he was attempting to

The relatively unpublicized record on Bush dismantling all the health,
safety, and environmental regulations is clear- he has made thousands of
political appointments to the agencies form either management or
lobbyists for the very industry they regulate. If Bush can't outright
remove the regulation, he eliminates all the inspector jobs so that it
can't be enforced. The prime mover behind most of the regulatory abuse
is this John Graham from the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis.
