I don't recall if you have other grandchildren but my first was a
feeling I can't describe. A third generation for which I am involved.
Now I am a Great Grandpa, we will discuss this later.

Best wishes,

Real solder, or that lead free fairy crap?

I have some real solder, Kester "44" 63% SN .040 Dia. #58 Core,
1 Lb. Boxes if you want to buy it.

Thanks, but I still have a few rolls of 63/37 Ersin Multicore in
several sizes. At my age, t should last me the rest of my life. I
probably have 20 pounds of various alloys. I'm sure others on the group
could use some. :)

The same line can be used for West Virginia Tech.

Do they have schools in West Virginia?

I wasn't chiding the school, I was simply amused that Phil has a
master's degree. As for Louisiana Polytechnic (as it was called when
I lectured there in the late '60's)... pretty neat school, and
WONDERFUL Cajun food close-by.

And, indeed, there IS West Virginia Tech, at Montgomery, just outside
of Charleston. As a high school student I entered a number of my

Far better school than Tulane ;-)

Wonder what it'd cost _you_ under Obamacare ?

You don't have to wonder. Under the silver and gold plans the cost would
be $45. Under the bronze plan you'd pay the entire amount unless you've
met your deductible, then you'd still pay 40% of the total.

Of course the reality is that if you were on the bronze plan you'd
probably elect to buy a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and some 3M
Steri-Strips at Walgreens and clean and close the wound yourself. Many
people on the gold and silver plans would do the same.

It just struck me funny that the leftist media is pouncing on this

My point of view has always been... there is NO code that is
uncrackable... thus do not E-mail anything you want to be absolutely
private. Likewise cellphone conversations or text messages. So NSA
can listen in all they want... the most technical discussion they'll
catch will be me helping my 13 year old granddaughter with her Algebra
homework ;-)

Almost true. The only exception is the one-time pad.

This is true only as long as any keys both on the source as well as any
destination site are destroyed before any "secret" transaction has been
known to performed by a hostile partner.

Not for "hand delivered" keys.
