Deepwater Oil Spill - Oh Shit...

How about you actually read 33 U.S.C. § 2702.
BP is immune beyond that figure.

Did you know that BP is VOLUNTARILY
paying settlement money BEYOND the
liability cap law passed by our Congress?

Congress is now himming and hawing about
removing that liability cap.

Nonsense.

Civil fines.

UC has paid fines/restitution for Bohpal. There is still the possibility of

I specifically required backup for any report of them paying anything to

Me. I'd like to see other responsible partners put their hands up. We could

That's some yacht! I guess the Sequoia isn't big enough for a full eighteen

He wants 57 holes. It takes a lot of cash to convert an aircraft
carrier into a floating golf course.

There's no question that BP should, and will, pay.

The only issue is that the method was via Chicago-style thuggery,
rather than our historical due-process.

I don't like the shakedown method used,
but considering that the congress critters
gave oil companies a gift of a 75 Mil liabliity
cap law, I am kind of glad that BP is handing
over the money.

I am more worried that the bad means
of obtaining the 20 Billion might sour the
deal for the other 30+ Billion it will take.

The US Government is somewhat toothless
on this because of the liability cap law.
Would you please just read it before spouting about it:
Mind the wrap.
