This has been a problem in the past, but I was looking at one the other
day (just passing time - I'm not yet in the market to buy), with this
particular issue in mind, and it was providing a decent picture at any
angle that anyone in their right mind would want to watch it from.

modern ones have very large viewing angles.

I have looked at lots of LCDs. If you compare the refresh rate to plasma
of course it looks poor. LCD has other advantages though, you don't like
the LCD picture fine, I personally prefer it to plasma.

I have looked at lots of LCDs. If you compare the refresh rate to plasma
of course it looks poor. LCD has other advantages though, you don't like
the LCD picture fine, I personally prefer it to plasma.

I've found it impossible to get any spec regarding the refresh rate on any
domestic plasma display.
So what is the typical refresh rate on plasma screens, say in the 50" size
and where can this info be read?

You must be totally mistaken.
It's hard to beat my my Sony S Series in both aspects, and the X
series is even better again, which leaves?
Sony's have 100Hz "motion flow" technology which improves the picture
with fast moving images, they are one of the best in this aspect.

By the colour being "crap", are you sure the "vivid" mode wasn't on? I
think mine was on by default out of the box.
