Hi.
PAL resolution is 768 x 576 pixels.
1/ Does this mean a large screen tv has the same amount of pixels as a
portable?.

2/ SVGA has a resolution of 800 x 600 only slightly better tha PAL
resolution. Why does it look so much better?.

Thanks for your help

Hi.

** No way is that PAL broadcast resolution - there are no pixels as
such.

** The larger screens like 68 cm normally have better resolution of
detail than 34 cm.

2/ SVGA has a resolution of 800 x 600 only slightly better tha PAL
resolution. Why does it look so much better?.

** Because there really are 480,000 individual colour pixels.

The bandwidth available for a colour PAL broadcast signal is only
4.5 MHz or so while a PC monitor has many times that bandwidth for *each*
colour signal.

Further, the frame rate of PAL is 50Hz, and it's interlaced

** Actually the frame rate it is only 25 Hz - the field rate is 50 Hz
and interlaced to reduce flicker.
