I love to cook with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Well, if we're going to brag about relatives, my Dad is mayor of the
newest city in Oregon.

Oh, yeah? Well, my great-grandfather Culver founded Culver city and invented
the original hand-crank can-opener. Too bad he didn't leave any of that city to
me....

And I travel to the Safeway in Damascus (or as is sometimes mispronounced by
kids as "Damn Ass Cuss"), sometimes, living as I do on Sunshine Valley Rd
towards Boring. Now, that's two great city names in Oregon, for you!

I assume ol' Jim ain't bragging. It's more of an open and honest
admission of failure on the part of a relative that deserves some
merit for forthrightness.

I'm still waiting for him to slow down enough that I can keep up with him.

Maybe in 2014.

I read in sci.electronics.design that Jonathan Kirwan

Had any mystical experiences on your way to the supermarket? (;-)

Well, Kev, You've finally earned "Burridge grade". PLONK!
Big deal. If kevin did the same he'd only save himself more revolting
revalations about your sordid, hopeless, dysfunctional family. you're
an ij't as we used to say in ireland, mr. thompson.

FOAD! PLONK!
Well, I was curious to know what a ij't was, weren't you?
Or did you already know? Hmm, idiot? Naw, no subtlety,
that would be mere mudslinging.

Damascus doesn't have a post office, so our mailing address was "Boring
OR". It didn't take me long once I hit college to learn that when asked
where I was from I should answer "Boring" to the US citizens and
"Damascus" to the middle easterners. Almost always good for a double take.

I sent Haakon Riiser some soldering iron tips he couldn't get in
Norway, and he sent me a nice postcard from Hell.

There's a picture of the same postcard about halfway down this page...

Most people are replying "relative", they must not realize how old I
am... Madeleine is my 43 year old *daughter* ;-)

You prefer Arial? I hardly ever see real ITC Helvetica anymore,

Times New Roman is easier on my eyes.

Me either (fortunately).

You speak for yourself only.
Jim is a legend and 'we' do like to hear what he is up to, including
his
immediate family.
Still no excuse for posting off-topic political diatribe.

But of course. Usenet appears to be predominently leftist and

And as responsible adults, there's no need for us to go around
poking at such hornets' nests as religion and politics.

Religion and Politics should not be bracketed together.

Religion is to do with altruism, symbols, beliefs and ceremonies.

Politics is to do with facts, lies, guns, and one's selfish interests.
