Looking for Fluid Leak Detector

We are developing an instrument that may run biohazardous materials,
and we want to detect small leaks quickly. Ideally the sensor would
detect small quantities anywhere over an area of several square cm. I
imagine something with two conductive traces, interlocking so that a
drop almost anywhere would short them and set off an alarm.
