KV32XBR96S PROBLEM W/ LINES APPEARING INTERMITTENTLY

Guest
A great set but after it is running for a short while and sometimes
when it first comes on we get horizontal white noisey lines that are
predomintently in the upper half of the screen and slowly roll to the
top, very annoying. It comes and goes ... maybe heat related but no
direct observation thatis the problem. We dont have a problem taking
the set apart and twidling with the boards ... even solder if
necessary ... we dont want to spend alot of $$$ on it since it is 1994
vintage, but the picture is terrific otherwise and its 32" XBR2
quality and we paid litle $$ for it!

Second part ... there seems to be conflicting info on whether this set
will setup in movie mode to turn off VSM ...some info indicated
removing and/or cutting a "lead" ... anyone know what "lead" "what
board" etc. if this is necessary.

Thanks ... i promise i wont electrocute myself ... unless it's
rainning inside.

Suggest having a technician have a go at the tele, to check first of all for
poor solder connections, and second for any caps that are going out of
tolerance from age and use. This is a good quality set and may suffice for
many more years of use if properly repaired. Again it is your choice as to
how much you care to spend since comparable teles are a bit less expensive
now.
