Intermittent Basic Stamp Outage

I have a board of education and bs2 from parallax. Sometimes while I'm
trying some programming and I try to send the software to the board and it
tells me hardware not found. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Is
there something I could be doing that is locking up the stamp? When it
locks up I try sending it some basic little program and it still doesn't
help.

I have been having a similar problem with a stamp 2sx stack from HVWtech. It
seems to be more likely occur when I update the stamp several times in a
short time period, such as when making minor changes to a program.

After the first error, I can't communicate with the chip again until I
restart my PC. If I change the serial cable to my other COM port while the
PC is still running after an error, the same thing happens. It seems to be
something to do with the PC not being able to open the port rather than
anything wrong with the stamp itself.
