SMBus is the System Management Bus defined by Intel Corporation in
1995. It is used in mobile and desktop personal computers for
low-speed communication in the system. The I2C bus and the SMBus are
popular 2-wire buses that are essentially compatible with each
other. Complete compatibility between both buses is ensured only below
100kHz.
