True, but a lot of those kits were sold, it it really worked.
Perhaps the designer was still thinking tubes with a 150 Ohm cathode resistor...
Was running from 2 4.5V batteries in series IIRC.

Schem shows two batteries in series. What's the supply voltage?? 3V?
Or are those 9V batteries?
2 4.5 V batteries in series IIRC.
