I read in some doccuments about a Service bulletin n98-0005 something
to do with how to determine if jumpers are needed for my tuner repair.
Does anyone know what this is and where can I read about it?

I have an older RCA with channels where the picture goes out and pack
in and gets snow. Somtimes the audio goes out too sometimes not. I
think it is the infamous tuner ground problem and will crack it open
tonight.

If you want specific information post the exact model and chassis number for
your set.

I believe that you are confused with info from a later chassis. On the
CTC169 you might need to resolder some connections in the tuner, but not add
any jumpers.

The sound problem is likely not related. Possibly some leaky caps in the
audio circuit. This likely goes beyond your capability, considering your
other posts.

Would the solder problems cause the sound problems? I want to attempt
to repair myself. I live in a rural area and the tv is so heavy I cant
get it out by myself.

Sounds like you are in over your head and you need to get it to a tech who
is experienced on the 169 chassis.

What I meant to say was when the picture goes out, sometimes the sound
will too, sometimes it wont.

That was my point that I had put in his original post and you and
others didn`t get ther point that some of these guys don`t have a
clue to what to do or where to look even if you did put it in plain
english for them. I would also suggest to take this to your local
repairshop or atleast give them a call to see if they will come out
to have a look at before you go in there and do more damage than
what is already there.

How do we know what you are responding to unless you include the previous
post. I am not foing to go back and find the previous posts to try to guess
which one you are commenting on. You will be largely ignored if you don't
provide some context for your comments.
