All,
I'm the first time user of this news group. I'm not even sure if this is the
right group for me or not. But if any of you could be kindly enough to
answer a couple of my concerns.

First of all, I'm in need of some knowledge about Minimeter microwave
electronics, is this the right group?

Second, I also need to find some high frequence electronic compoment such as
digital attenuator, SPST switch. They should be able to operate at 34 to 36
Ghz. Is there any reputable dealer/distributor I can talk to to get these
component?

I really appreciate the time and effort. thanks

macom are good for high frequency stuff. www.macom.com

Stuff at this frequency is normalyl built to military or space specification
(temperature shock resistance etc).

This makes it real expensive. I'd expect to pay $400 - to $1000 for a SPST
switch of this freuqnecy,

A

You are probably in the right group. I think you mean Millimeter
microwave.

Try a google search on gunn, millimeter, the frequency, wavelength or
band letter you want. I fooled with that stuff some time ago but am
no expert. Place I used was http://www.shfmicro.com/ SHF microwave.
The ARRL, American Radio Relay League, has several books on topic, I
have the "UHF/Microwave Experimenter's Manual" It includes antennas,
microwave generators, wave guides, and other components. Excellent
book but you'd need a modicum of electronics knowledge to understand
it

Ka and Q bands are the letter designations for those frequencies.

I have never seen a digital attenuator for those frequencies. If
someone makes one, I'll bet it isn't cheap. Presumably you'll use
some intermediate frequency?

All that and a SPST switch? Maybe you'd do better to post what you
hope to accomplish . . .
