DIP package accelerometer / local supplier of ICs

Evening all,

Before learing to solder SSOP, I was wondering if any knows of a 2D
accelerometer that is supplied as a DIP!

Also, where would you hunt for some older MAXIM chips, ADXL202 etc.

Thanks in advance!

I think Analog Devices do one - probably :)

I don't think they do.

They have done one, until recent times, such as the ADXL202. Alas, they
don't advertise it as a DIP package any more so I'm looking for a supplier
who may have older Analog Devices stock.

Regards,

The only MEMS parts I ever saw in DIP were the first series from
Motorola. The current series may have a SIL part, but these are genrally
higher g parts than the ADXL202 you are looking for.

Soldering SOICs is simple, in fact easier than getting a good solder
joint on a through hole part. get the SOIC version of the ADXL202. If
you really can't handle that try MEMSIC, they supply the tiny lead frame
packaged parts pre-mounted on PCB, and they are slightly cheaper than AD.

Also, where would you hunt for some older MAXIM chips, ADXL202 etc.
I hope you realise the ADXL202 is an ADI part. As for old Maxim parts
why not start with Maxim. Or at least say what parts, someone might know
of an alternative or have some lying around.

Thanks in advance!

If you only want one or two for prototyping there is the ADXL202 evaluation
board.
