HP scanner is brain-dead. History is that this scanner died during an
electrical storm. Applying power (outboard supply brick) results in no
function. Power seems to be at all ICs. Power is good. No visible fuses.
Scanner consists of 2 boards: one that looks like USB board and motor
interface. Second is on traveling video bed.
Questions:
1. Does the USB board perform just serial-to-parallel functions?
2. Where is the firmware located? On chipset on the video board?
3. What is the power-up sequence on this scanner?
4. Where should I look for signs of life?
Any suggestions to resurrect this scanner would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

ask a question here if I hadn't done that already.
