Cadsoft Eagle 5.5 No Library

I have 5.5 installed on both my home and laptop computers. I have a
circuit that is complete and touched up the board from that circuit on
my laptop. Then I copied the board file to a memory stick and took it
home. Then I copied the brd file onto my home computer and did some
more touch up without touching the schematic (although it was open to
keep the files synced. Today, when I tried to add a component, the
library is completely blank. I went to options and made sure the
library was available. I have 5.3 and 5.4 still installed on my
computer. Has this happened to anyone else and what is the fix.
Thanks

On the Eagle command line type this:

use *

Then hit enter. Now your libraries should show up. If they do, buy me a
beer. Just kidding :)

This is IMHO a strange quirk of Eagle. Best is to write this command
down in bold letters at a prominent place in the handbook, maybe under
libraries. That's what I did.

What kind of beer? I would be happy to buy you a beer if I were
close enough. What version of Eagle did this start in? I I never had
this happen in version in 4.whatever.

If you prefer a GUI approach, you can simply right-click "Libraries"
in the Control Panel, and select "Use all".

It will also work on separate subfolders if you have more than one.

I suspect it was always the case, not sure about the DOS versions
though. My version is 4.16 (paid license) and loss of libraries happens
on a regular basis. Never when I open a fresh blank sheet but a lot when
I open existing schematics, not opened as a project but just the
schematic itself.

This reminds me of the little Opel car of a friend of mine. Many drivers
of those had a little hammer in the trunk. Once in a while the starter
would not engage. Open hood, gently hit its solenoid with the hammer ->
now it worked.
