Back on line after a year

Well, I'm back on line after a year of no internet access. It has
been boring, to say the least. I tried to set up a Google groups account
at the public library, but Google refused to accept the data. I tried
E-mailing a couple people on the group, but they either bounced, or
there were no replies.

A lot of things have happened in the past year.
ISTR that one of the big changes in s.e.d is the disappearance of
"news twenty twenty" (I don't want to use the actual digits, I feel
like that would be bad luck). I haven't seen anyhting from that poster
in many months. Maybe that happened over a year ago.

I had a "barium enema with air" last summer after a sudden onset of
constipation and back pain. Found nothing untoward except some
diverticula. But the damned doctor inflated my gut to such a pressure
level I was in severe pain for weeks :-( I was concerned for a while
that she had perforated my intestine.

Conclusion: Don't panic until constipation goes for more than a week.
Saves you pain and money.

Cheaper to stay on your Metamucil- get over it, you're old, you have to
pay attention to stuff like that, and it is obvious from the tenor of your
posts that you are constipated all the time:

Bloggs,

They don't do rectals on you because they keep bumping into your head!

See if you can get one of those devices that has a monitor overtop of a
platform with a camera. People with vision problems use them. They are
rather pricey for what they are, but maybe you can get insurance
coverage or a subsidy.

Almost all such aids are very over-priced, which is immoral. Cameras and
monitors are very cheap these days. The only item that is not so cheap,
AFAIK, is the lens.
A friend of mine had one of those cheap black and white CCD cameras
($50-$60 at a local shop) with an adjustable lens. Just goofing around
I was able to get it to focus at about 6 inches. Add a pyramidal
wire frame...

Nah, the house cleaning at the CIA finally scared the spooks into getting
their job done without further futzing around.

How are you feeling these days?
Sorry for the delay. Earthlink's east news server has been up and
down all week and some messages are still trickling in days after they
were posted.

About the same. I'm on full disability now, and not being able to
work is driving me crazy. How about you?

Well, while I'd like to hear *better*, sometimes *not worse* is a
victory.
Me? I'm just crazy--no particular reason. Healthy otherwise, thanks.

If you're not too much interested in binaries, Individual.net has a great
*free* usenet service. I've beeen using them for some months and have yet
to notice any outage.

The VA did it because I'm in my 50s, and my mother died of colon
rectal cancer at 52. The only pain I had was from two days of not
eating and taking laxatives to prepare. They put me under, and I had a
couple hours of peaceful sleep, which is too rare these days.

That's ok,
For the last while I have been so busy anyway, that I barely have time to
lurk on the groups much less post!

Best of luck with your health,

Jeff
