Why Does a Cassette Recorder Warble?

Why does a spanking new cassette recorder warble with any cassette?
Batteries new - there seems to be some irregularity in the turning of one of
the spools - i.e. seems to be turning one minute extra turn.

Are there any sites out there that give the low-down on troubleshooting
cassette recorders?

Thanks

That is generally caused by the tape sticking and then being snatched ahead
a small distance. It could be that the rollers need a good cleaning. There may
be some excess silicone grease on something.
