so you want to overhaul the mechs on ya VCR cause its not going to good
what normally goes ? belts, clutchs (can you fix clutchs up)
some carefully placed grahite grease for the metal parts ?

does your favorite parts shop sell a overhaul kit - is that the best way to
go ?

cheers

Depends... I used to be in the repair business, but its just not economical
now with all the cheap crap which is churned out these days :(

If it cost less than Ł100 and is past its manuf. guarantee period - chuck it
and buy another one! A repair shop's gonna want Ł30 - Ł40 to do it - and
you'll only get a 3 month warranty.

If you want to hack it yourself, then yeah, belts clutches etc. Clean
EVERYTHING up and regrease sparingly!

Here is a great site for VCR info. Shows you exactly what parts commonly
fail on specific brands and models.

Ah yes, Studio Sound. I dealt with these folks a number of years ago, got a
power supply rebuild kit for a Magnavox unit that's in the bedroom and still
going strong. I took a look around but didn't find anything that seemed
specific to what I've got going on here.

I tried to order some parts from them. They never sent my part, and have
ignored repeated inquiries. I never checked my c.c. bill to see if they
charged me for them, but I never got them either.

Says they're under new ownership, the original link works just fine, I just
ordered yesterday and got an email confirmation that my order has processed
and shipped.
