Good day all,

Several months ago, I asked (on several usenet newsgroups) about the
availability of piezotransformers. I got very little response (even
the usual wisecrack responses so common on usenet were not received)!

The net is full of technical articles about these little gems and I
tracked down many of the authors of these articles. All of them had no
idea where to obtain these devices.

Exhaustive google searches led to Asia or Japan based manufacturers,
but they aren't interested in selling to US customers unless they want
to buy complete backlight inverters in OEM quantity!

I had just about given up:>:

For the record, CTS (the source of the original device outlined in
EDN) is no longer making piezotransformers. I was told by one of their
senior engineers that they gave up on them because of poor sales and
that they might sell them later on if the sales prospects appear more
positive.

I just happened on a US manufacturer of these devices however. They
claim to have single and multiple layered devices and have a standard
product line. Of course, they offer custom devices for a little extra
$$.

The name of the sole US manufacturer is Steminc in Miami, Florida.
Email is sales@steminc.com and their telephone is 305-593-5353. They
DO NOT list prices on their website however. More info at
www.steminc.com.

Good luck to all.
