Toshiba 2812DB stuck in standby

I have this set which is stuck in standby mode ie it wont come out of standby.
What could be the culprit here?

Hmmm...
I know! The culprit is the TV. Maybe it needs repair.

Given the sympthoms with no test results on the set I would conclude if
there are N components inside the set, it is probable that a failure of N -
(N * 0,02) of those N components will cause these sympthoms. That 2% of
components we can exclude are the power cord, mains switch (if it has one),
fuse and st-by l.e.d.

Even the remote could be a suspect if a key has become stuck pressed, of
course check that there is no stuck button on either the front panel or the
remote. And if you're trying to turn it on from the remote, verify it has
fresh batteries inserted in the correct polarity, and or try to turn it on
from the front panel buttons.
