Saw that last night on a PBS program. Think it was a sign on an office
door or wall.
The "10" threw me for a couple seconds even thouugh I've worked with
binary (and octal and hex) for most of the last forty years. If I'd
been in my work "world" at the time instead of slouched in front of the
tele I might have got it right away. Maybe. :)

To which I always reply:

There are 2 kinds of people in the world: those you can classify, and those
you can't.

If it is really binary though, shouldn't it be "01" ?

No. You must be 01 of those who don't. ;)

As in "The zeroth shall be first and the first shall be second".
I can't find it in my copy of the KJV.

I confess I saw it on TeeVee. I don't remember which show it was, or even
that it was PBS - if it was PBS, it must have been "Cyberchase". It
definitely was a sign on a wall. Should we start another infinite thread
about which show it actually was? ;-)

But I do remember it made me laugh, and it's the first time I'd heard it.

Thanks,
Rich

Last weeks's NCIS episode, in the group office or programming area
supposedly at Bethesda Naval Hospital. They found a programmer's dead
body and determined that he had been siphoning off prescription drugs by
inserting a patch in the new database application they were all working
on (determined by Abby after blindly staring at 100,000 screenfuls of
binary code and then noticing one statement that looked out of place,
sigh :)).
