Shit, I was just looking at mine as it went into hers.

Where are you? and, please, stop looking.

Just a note to those who read Al Borowski's posts; Replying to these posts
gives Al the ability to censor and edit your posts by using the "Supersedes"
header. See [ http://www.templetons.com/usenet-format/supersedes.html ].

It's just a "feature" of Usenet that you may not be aware of.

Cheers,

Guy

Maybe he could, but only creeps actually do things like that.

In the words of Al Borowski (exact quote), "I was just pointing out
a technical fact. I don't think I was being impolite about it."
Al is very big on letting people know about various Usenet features.

Yup. Point them out all you want, I don't care :)

I thought I was killfiled, by the way.

All discussions of Guy Macon's killfiles belong in alt.killfiles.guy-macon.

Followups set accordingly.

(just kidding)

I think that's a *great* idea! I have no idea why so many people
are obsessed with the contents of my killfile - I am second only
to Tim Skirvin in this regard - but the topic certainly generates
enough traffic to justify a newsgroup dedicated to it.

We could discuss, for example, the fact that I am now using a
scoring-based killfile system with rudamentary Bayesian filtering
(See [http://www.paulgraham.com/better.html]). This scheme works
very well indeed, but alas it blurs the edges of the concepts
of "in the killfile" and "out of the killfile." With your proposed
newsgroup, posts of "I thought I was in your killfile" could be
refered to the newsgroup FAQ...

:)

Just like you or anyone else could, what's the big deal? I note you
have "X-no-archive:yes" in your headers while Al doesn't.

Hey Guy, you're taking all this too seriously, lighten up a bit, will
you? Now repeat after me: "It's only usenet, have fun." Could you do
that? Oh, you did, good, I knew you could.

That's abuse of the net, and just about every ISP will TOS you if you
do that. (If you CAN still do that. Any news server set up to prevent
vandalism will filter it out, as the technique has been used by flood-
bots for years).

Part of my spam filtering system detects any "Supersedes" headers and
I'll collect your or anyone else's scalp if they try. I've got a small
collection.

Ok, I'll play dumb here. Whoy would you care if I did a "superceeds" or
"cancel". Sure, most ISPs don't recognize them, but it's my words I'm
correcting/deleting. If you're talking about a snake=in-the-grass
altering others articles, I'm with your 100%.

In another newsgroup, Al pointed out that he canceled one of his
posts that I was reacting to from within Google right after sending
it. I was not aware of that, and in light of what I now know, I
have no beef with Al, and thus won't be responding to this thread.

The latter. Some folks have to be hit up the side of the head with a
"clue by four". Sadly, most of that sort of fool has an alternate account
or soon gets one, but it tends to make them a bit more circumspect when
they realize there actually is a limit to what they can do here.
