Does anybody know a local supplier/retailer for
super capacitors?
I'm looking for 350-400 F ones.

Need around six of them to setup a car battery replacement, combined with
LiFePO4 or Li-Ion battery pack.

Li-Ion pack is cheap(with 18650 batteries), but these super caps ain't
cheap, but still better than traditional lead acid batteries.

This is the only ebay retailer I could find. I'm not sure they are any good.
They are from China.

These American ones don't seem to like shipping to Australia, and not to
mention the cost of shipping when they do.

I would like to find a local fella doing these super caps.

Any ideas guys?!

Thanx.

P.S. I am a cheap bastard, so I'm tryng to get the best deal while still
demanding high quality stuff. My bad.

An impressive battery... with any luck they'll drop in price in time,
then I'll be interested in one myself.

No, I meant Antarctica. :))

That means you'll have to deal with those sleazy penguin battery
dealers. Good luck with that!

digi-key prices seem to be about the best for Maxwell Boostcaps, if you
are looking for new, genuine parts, not discarded / surplus used.

No, but they are a reputable supplier of components. They are in the US,
so there might be some export control paperwork, but many people seem to
buy stuff from them ok. They did have 3000F caps for about $65 a few
weeks ago, now it is $82 for some reason. Maybe the good prices I
mentioned were an accident...

Prices are promising, so far. What I dunno about is the postage. Yet, to

Spot welding? The rated max current for the 3000F ones is about 2kA, so
you'd need a few of them in series and parallel to get enough current
and voltage whilst remaining within ratings, and a big array of MOSFETs
to switch the welding current.

Most of the uses on youtube seem to be starting car engines in very cold
weather, and LED torches etc.

I think a little UPS for the raspberry pi would be handy, to allow it to
close all its files before the power goes off, to prevent corrupting the
SD card when someone pulls the plug. The main advantage of a small
supercap over a LiPo might be that you could send it through the post
and in all honesty tick the box to say there are no batteries inside. It
might also last longer before the battery / cap needs replacing, perhaps.

Going off the subject a bit, what is this no batteries through post if I
post something when I get lithium batteries from ebay through post all
the time and millions of batteries get through post separately and built
in items every day?

Don't ask me. Go to the post office and ask them (if you're in
Australia). There are some nonsensical rules that have something to do
with whether the battery is installed inside something or just a spare
battery. The rules as written don't make sense, and the staff sometimes
implement them in a way that is different again. The end result is that
it is slightly advantageous to avoid using lithium batteries (including
coin cell primary cells) because the rules are a hassle.
