hi , i have a sanyo camcorder and the power supply has died on me, i have
noticed that it is a switched mode type the supply runs the camera and also
charges the battery,(9volt / 80ma), can i get away with using any( 9 volt
80ma) supply or does it realy have to be a smp supply,
i would be very gratefull for any info

Any 9 volt supply with 80 ma capability should be OK, but make damn sure the
voltage is no more than 10 or 11 volts unloaded, as you don't want to pop
components in the camera. Also, triple check the polarity before connecting,
no use causing yourself needless grief. The manufacturers use switchers
because they are cheap, their output voltages are very tightly controlled
and they have a wide voltage input, good for international use.

Tom
