Hi,

I recuperated a lot of semiconductors but I now face the identification
of these item, principally mosfet and igbt.
How can I identify the one from the other with e.g. a dmm ?

Kind regards,

alpibucky

You might look into the component testers comming from China. They can
be bought from about $ 9 to $ 20.

The design was done in Europe, if I am not mistaken, and shared online -
and the Chinese are simply flooding the market with it with the help of
their government making shipping worldwide essentially free (heavily
subsidized) to weaken foreign suppliers/designers like the good folks in
the US and Europe.

And, yes, I bought three for my staff, they do work well. Sigh,
participating in the drive to the bottom...

For a first pass, Mosfets have a parasitic internal diode from drain
to source. IGBTs don't, unless an extra part is added internally.

You really should decipher the part markings, for real information on
the part, before redeploying it.

The basic IGBT is an n-channel MOSFET with a PNP emitter follower hanging
from the drain, so that test should clear things up.
