Any help in solving this problem would be appreciated. Have no schematic, no
scope. The problem is intermittent.

Manufacturer: RCA
Model: F20602SE
Chassis: CTC175A2
Mnfct date: Sept. 1995

Picture: Raster exists, frequently no picture with horizontal stripes, sometimes
very very feeble picture with lots of snow.

Sound: From no reception sound with highly pitched, almost like dentist's drill
to very feeble sound with white noise.

Tested this tough dog in various homes with good existing signal and the problem
did not go away. Any indication of statistically problematic component is
welcome.

Tuner grounds?

Probably due to bad solder joints inside the tuner box.

Resolder all the grounds and the tuner wrap in the tuner.

fidik's post not on my server, but the information is at www.repairfaq.org
and other web sites, search for Thomson on board tuner ground problem.

Unless fidik has lots of experience working with surface mount components
and a good temperature controlled soldering station, I would strongly
recommend the set be taken in for a proper repair by an experienced
technician with those sets.

Go see Peter's post today as he botched his repair attempt on the tuner
grounds. These are not DIY repairs for people with little experience.
