Protel 99SE - ddb file size grows and grows and grows and ..

I've noticed that my protel 99SE ddb files seem to like to expand in size, a
simple design can end up being wrapped in a 10 MB ddb file. If I export the
files from the ddb file and recreate the ddb file by importing the files
into a fresh ddb the resultant file is small (as expected). Also, emptying
the recycle folder inside a ddb does not seem to reduce the ddb size as I
would expect.

Can anyone please explain this to me.

Rob,
under the big down arrow on the left hand side of the drop-down menus,
Design Utility, the compact tab, check the box so that the DDB is compacted
when closed. Without this box being checked, it is like a harddrive that
never releases clusters for re-use, the DDB grows and grows as every file is
saved, modified, deleted, replaced or any other data creating activity.
