buying and integrating a hub motor would have been far more productive.

I\'m waiting to see the photo of the drill motor after it severely
overheats from driving John Dope around. Hand held drills do not have
sufficient cooling for continious use at high loads, and direct drive
of a bike tyre from the center hub for any reasonable length of time is
cleary a continious use at a very high load.
Just finished another drill powered electric bike. This one weighs 22
pounds, half the weight of a light eBike. Being drill powered also makes
it versatile and easy to service. Being drill powered might be visually
incorrect, but in real life I\'ve gotten only compliments, like from
several people just a few minutes ago when out front testing it.
Was trying to get it below 20 pounds but that\'s tough! The frame is
aluminum, very light, a big weight saver. But it must have a
comfortable, springy, seat, that weighs 3 pounds by itself. The front
wheel rim is steel, but it would be only a tiny bit less if it were
aluminum. The front fork is heavy duty, but it needs to be. The
freewheel hub is a bit heavy, but good luck finding freewheel hubs
(driven from outside of the fork).
A springy seat is also good for relieving stress on bike parts,
especially the frame. Less than 20 pounds is doable as a scooter,
without a seat.
Front wheel drive helps keep from breaking stuff and helps with
stability, too. An in-line skating heel break is cool too, marvelous
device. Works similarly.
A DeWalt mud mixer would be fun, but don\'t need that much power. No
clutch. But a clutch, especially an electric clutch, is
counterproductive anyway. That would be an AMAZINGLY powerful drill
powered bike, it\'s geared for it (0-600 RPM), direct driving a 16 or 20
inch wheel. But it would add 2+ pounds.

Not worried about it. My first used a lesser DeWalt drill (DCD7xx)
and a 24\" wheel. This is a DCD991 with a brushless motor, geared
lower, and driving a 16\" wheel. Also using a Flexvolt battery. The
gearbox might get warm or hot, but nothing else.
It\'s not \"continuous use\" anyway.
