OT: Escalator Safety - Chasing Slinkys

Just saw a spot on the tube about rescue workers retreiving a boy
who got his arm caught in an escalator handrail. It was stuck down
there where the rubber handrail goes bye-bye. Good place to catch a
sleeve, too. He got off with cuts and bruises after they cut the
belt above where he was stuck.

So much for our assertions that the escalator is safe. We were
focused on the steps, not the belt. As a kid, I looked at where the
steps slide under the plate to dispell any phoias. I let my sneaker
run up to the beveled plate and be pushed up against it. The step
just slides under your shoe, like "wake up granmpa, were at the
top/bottom." Never considered the handrail, though.

Good thing I didn't have retreive my slinky from one of those
beasts.

Watch yer kids.

Escalators are well-known to eat little kids clothing.

I think it's US-wide that escalators must have Panic-Stop-Buttons on
both ends.

Throughout the history of this great country there have actually
been people of only two political persuasions: fighters and cowards.
WE MUST NOT LET THE LATTER PREVAIL IN THE NEXT ELECTION!
