OT: DVD Player, VHS-to-DVD Recorder, with RESUME Feature ???

Way Off Topic, but provoked by visiting grandchildren...

I understand that DVD players can now be had that remember where you
were when you last played a DVD, even if you have removed the DVD from
the player.

Since hardly an evening passes without us watching a movie, but not
finishing it, the grandchildren playing Dora, etc., in the daytime
cause me to lose my place ;-)

But, being a feature-holic, I'd like a machine that also plays VHS AND
can record from VHS-to-DVD.

Anyone with experience/recommendations?

Thanks!

I'd go for a DVD recorder with build in 180GB hard drive and ethernet
connection. You can record ad hoc to hard drive, copy to DVD if need
be. And put a VHS recorder next to it, for your old tapes etc.

WHAT! every evening watching DVDs! Get a life man! If I spent every
evening watching DVDs I'd need a brain transplant within 3 months.
Have you ever heard of reading, talking, dancing, playing bingo,
socialising, collecting stamps, or maybe train spotting!
I work at home. We almost always eat out for lunch with much talking.
We also play Canasta between movies and Chinese checkers.

What's a train ?:)

If you already have grandchildren just think for a moment about just
how few years you have left on this here planet.
I see my grandchildren almost daily. Few years my ass... my _father_
is still alive ;-)

You sure as hell
don't wanna waste every waking moment watching the multitude of
(mostly)crap you get on DVD movies....!

You think in terms of the usual TV/movie pabulum. Right now I'm
watching a compendium of Hitchcock classics. The DVDs are of my own
purchase, not rentals.
