Just out of curiosity, anybody here has tried to use an old version of
electronics workbench(let's say, 4.0 or 5.1.2) in a recent OS?
I am thinking about reinstalling my old version, just for fun. But, I
don't know if it will run under win2k... duh. :~(. I remember using it
under win95.

no, but i eval'd EWB on 98 and it wasn't any fun there, so i don't
foresee anyone having fun with it, period.

IIRC, it was the PCB layout tool that i didn't like.

i would just try to install it. i have old sw that runs on new OSs.

An old version of EWB for DOS ran under Win'98. But I couldn't save
files: it crashed when tried to write to C:, probably because the drive
is fat32. Duh. :~(

are you talking about the same version that ran under DOS? if not, and
the one youi ARE talking about runs under DOS, it may be that it's still
a DOS app and was fixed so it would save. try DOS compatibility mode on
new OSs.

just right click the apps icon or it's shortcut, select properties, and
go to the compatibility tab.

sorry, i should have thought of that before.

br,
mike
