I have a cordless phone (Panasonic KX-TG2584) with a Nicad battery
that doesn't hold the charge for very long. Can I use NiMH batteries
in the phone. Will they charge with the same charger? Thanks for the
help.

Both batterieshave the same nominal output voltage but they require rather
different charging techniques. I would suggest that you charge MiMh
batteries in a dedicated charger rather than trust them to the NiCad charger
in the phone

Is this an old phone, and has it got worse?

It might be time to get a new phone. Before spending a lot of money and
effort on batteries, check the phone prices.

About a month ago, I thought the battery in my Panasonic phone was failing,
and was going to buy a new battery. Nobody had what I needed, but I did
tetermine the price was going to be over $30.
