does anyone know where in Los Angeles i could get a power supply module
for a GE projection TV model 46gw948?

thanx, louie

Look up GE, or RCA, or Thompson in your yellow pages. Or look on the
net for their site and get the contact information. You can ask them
for their authorised parts distributors for your area.

In most cases, an experienced tech can service the power supply board.
The exceptions are if the module is a sealed unit, or the repair needs
are very severe. In this case, then a new unit would be recomended.

That TV is not modular, so it doesn't have a power supply board to swap. There
is a convergence supply board, but it's a simple and easy board to fix.

this board is a SMPS with a STK730 switch mode regulator that appears to
be burnt out. but i can't tell for sure and i don't know how to test
components when they're in circuit.

any ideas?

Replace the STK, check the rest of the parts on the board (there's not that
many really) especially the secondary diodes. If not, Thomson may still have
them or you can likely get it from PTS.
