It is a very good insulator and flows fairly well when warm.
The dry semolina flour is the equivalent of micro pith balls.

Its a rather pretty demo of electric fields.

Other oils might also work (and other dry powders too).

Making linguini out of castor oil would have other interesting physical
effects. ;)
