MOSfet Question from a Newbie

I want to run 480KHz square wave pulses into a MOSfet with a variable 12 volt
source. I haven't purchased the varible DC supply yet because I want to know
what my transistor is rated to take. I got it out of a RadioShack electronics
learners kit I bought to teach myself about electronics. I'm still learning
obviously. But I can tell you that there is the following on my MOSfet:

F
8 (in a little circle) 022
IRF630A

So how many amps can it take?

Thanks!

Hi Ed,

F
8 (in a little circle) 022
IRF630A

So how many amps can it take?
9 amps

Use Google, search for { IRF630a datasheet }

Jay, thanks very much. This was extremely helpful. I checked the chart, 36
amps pulsed current? That's pretty good! 9amps continuous amperage, not bad.

Again, thank you.

Why Google when you can go directly to the manufacturer's page...

Hello ED!

What I can see that the IRF630 is an HEXFET MOSFET transistor.

Description
Vdss = 200V
Rds(on) = 0.30 Ohm
Id = 9,3 A
