Making "Star Trek" Type "Replicators" Reality
A way to create a Star Trek type replicator might be to create a "3D printer" which uses particle beams to print matter into the desired form. By using particle beams wherein the particles are composed of different elements, it should be possible to create very complex structures with very complex composition, possibly even food.
Perhaps by using colliding particle beam type fusion it may be possible to use a small number of elements (hydrogen only, for example) to create any element through fusion. Then it should be possible to "replicate" the desired product at very low cost.
