First off, electrons aren't 'stationary'. They're always moving. And
then you can't 'observe' them because the act of observing them disturbs
them. It's the old Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle.
The old "disturbance model" of quantum mechanics? That's been know to be
wrong almost since the dawn of the subject.

If your auto radio has an external input, this can be done. If not,
there are some very good quality stereo FM modulators around that are
portable. I have seen these for about $20 and up. I found that the
quality goes up with the price.

Hi all,
I don't know if this is the right forum, but here goes: Would it not be
possible to connect the mp3 player phones output to you car stereo
(assuming
one has an input jack), rather than using the funky, squeaky, jamming-up
tape player cartridge POS that's available now?

Hi All
Simple (maybe) question. I've got a tin/lead plated circuit board, and

some

components which have plated leads without lead. Is it possible to make

a

good solder joint between these two? If so, what sort of solder should

be

used (leaded, unleaded)?
TIA.

for all electrical work you need to use *rosin* core solder...

it's ok to use the standard lead/tin solder

but silver solder should also be ok

I thank you both for your comments. Are there any web-based reports that
investigate this process?
here is one of many links:

Why?

Because breathing lead solder fumes is bad. Also, eating lead is bad.

Sorry for posting it in the wrong group. But, to answer your question: I
want to detect when the other party hangs up, on the other end of the line.
My answering machine seems to do this, and stops recording on its cassette
immediately after the party hangs up.

I'll try posting it there.

First off, you should be asking this on the appropriate newsgroup,
comp.dcom.telecom.tech. You're not telling us which party is "hanging
up". If you meant the far end, then most modern telephone switches
don't send anything back to you when the calling party disconnects.

Just couldn't wait to jump on it, could you? At least 'Im still here.
Now, how about an answer to the question I posted initially? You have
one, or are you just a troll?
I don't believe there is an easy answer. If the cable transported only a few
channels, you could
run the signal into a mixer (multiplier) and transmit it to a receiver where
you would block convert the signal back to the original frequencies. With 50
or more channels, you would need to use a *much* higher frequency and much more
RF power in order to maintain a reasonable signal-to-noise ratio.

My MP3 player has a battery indicator which indicated the newly charged

much about it.

But unfortunately it just gave me a low battery indication and stopped
playing after 2-3 hours of operation only...

Are there rechargeable batteries suitable for this kind of stuff?

Does anyone know whether a PCI card exists that will act as an audio
active crossover network? Ie it should accept a digital input from a
PC soundcard then be capable of splitting it digitally into a number
of frequency bands (at least 3), with user definable cut off
frequencies and attenuation rates. Obviously seperate outputs should
be available for each frequency band per channel. Or is it pie in the
sky? ;=}

Sounds like an interestng idea for Creative - just think how many speakers

correct...
lead is toxic
How many "Lead Sniffers" or "Lead Eaters" do you know, and what happened to
them?

IN the over forty years I have used lead bearing solder, I have never seen or
heard of anyone affected by the stuff. We all learned how to handle it.
