Does anyone know how the polarity of operation for the inhibit pin that is
available on the SO-8 package only? The data sheet does not describe the
function of the inhibit input, other than calling it an inhibit. Which
polarity inhibits the regulator? Thanks.

RTFM. Page 4 shows a pretty picture with a switch for on/off control. 0V
= ON, Vcc via 51k = OFF

Have you looked at the datasheet available at National? It clearly
shows:

On/Off Threshold Voltage VO=3V
On 2.0 1.2 VMAX
Off 2.2 3.25 VMIN
On/Off Threshold Current 20 50 ľAMAX

The figure on page four shows the ON/OFF pin pulled up to Vcc/IN with a
51K resistor for "off" and the pin is directly tied to ground/GND for "on".

This datsheet doesn't show anything clearly.

I sit corrected. What a thoroughly unhelpful datasheet. FABM would have
been more appropriate (Find A Better Manual).

ST have some of the worst datasheets.
