Latching Relay question

Hi,

I dont understand how the latching relay works. Here is the
diagram:

contacts in reset position. Both coils can
be used as either set or reset coil.

pins 1,12 are one coil, pins 6,7 are the other coil.

For instance, does this mean? (below)

can I just leave one coil open and only use the other?
