How long have widescreen TV sets been available on the domestic
market here in Australia?

I found a listing for a Sony KV 28 from back in 1995 which
was released on the US / European market, and I can't recall
ever hearing about them prior to 1997 / 98.

TIA

I remember a few shops in 95/6 trying to sell widescreen, showing short fat
people or half their heads missing, from regular broadcasts.
Understandably little demand until DVD and digital TV came along. Even if
there were a couple of widescreen video tapes, the resolution was crap.

Trevor.
