Does anyone know where I can find out more about this without a major
outlay? Our shop has several instruments that communicate with it, but
the official keeper of the documentation,
http://www.hartcomm.org/index.html (a "non-profit" organization, har
har) wants $775 for it. The hardware is trivial, just 1200 baud modem
tones riding on a 4-20 mA current loop, and all we need is the basic
syntax and a few commands.

Shove it into an Apple IIe game paddle port and record the sucker.

Worked like a champ to find the obscure Radio Shack temperature codes.
