Way to go- beats the gazillion dollar testing ripoff they have now. That\'s a lot of money to pay just so people can be comfortable thinking they understand how something works.

Very promising if it is true.... no reason to doubt it yet, I guess...

Amazing! This is another reason in a long list of reasons that I love dogs.

The dogs have now been working for about three weeks, sniffed 1791
passengers of which 11 tested positive.

Of course there is reason to doubt the claim of \"almost\" 100% accuracy... not the number, but the details of the testing and the ultimate utility. The article does describe their use under real world conditions, but how do they determine when the dogs are right and when they are wrong? Are all of the travelers tested by other means? How accurate are the reference tests?

I suppose with large enough army of trained dogs, this might work for airports, but in a country like the US with nearly 1% of the total population infected, the number of dogs required to check people at super markets and restaurants would be enormous. I suppose this is something that could be ramped up in a few months, but that is not certain. So the utility may be rather limited. It\'s not like pumping out gazillions of test kits. It\'s also rather expensive I expect.

Time will tell if this ends up being a useful tool in fighting the disease. Certainly anything is better than what we are doing (or not doing) in the US.
