Anybody who disagrees with Phil get labelled autistic. One has to wonder why the diagnoses has such an emotional significance for him - it\'s not a conventional term of abuse. And he does use it so often that he clearly can\'t be getting it right most of the time. Just for the record I\'m not remotely autistic, and I\'ve spent a lot of time hanging around with psychologists who do know what the word means (which Phil clearly doesn\'t).

In the sense of building a product to fill a need, that makes sense. For
the purposes of discussion of a variety of approaches to a problem,
it\'s less important which of the approaches appeals to the \'customer\'.

What IS important in a discussion, is sometimes the broad range of
related techniques that can be applied; we all have holes in our
understanding if we don\'t step away from \'this hardware\' and look
instead at the range of approaches.

One midterm exam I recall fondly, was in a geometry class; we were
tasked with proving theorems about circles, in a non-Euclidean space.
Just prove a half-dozen, of any character you choose. It was a
great thinking exercise; I appreciate Smith charts in a different way
because of that exam.

There\'s no reason to help people who won\'t answer simple questions.
John Larkin doesn\'t pose simple questions,

** JL did this time, same one I posed and the \"mkr5000\" troll will not reply.

Most poster\'s projects are stupid, dangerous or illegal.
Some are all three.
Others are simply fake.
Like IEEE Bill.

There\'s nothing rude about wanting to understand a problem better
before donating free design consulting.

What\'s it for?

** Long time back I was offered a contract to design a small SMPS - not my specialty.
The spec was rather vague:
240VAC input, 5VDC out at 1amp and 0-120 VDC variable at 1amp.
The 120VDC to be controlled by a variable 0-5V input.

I wanted a lot more detail OR simply be informed what the task was so I could determine the missing parameters.
Got stone walled, no more info was forth coming and payment would only be on presentation of a working, usable prototype plus full documentation. This seemed very unprofessional to me so I pulled out.

Later info from the \"middle man\" involved was that it was some kind of medical device.
WTF !!!
