cleaning CRT

Some one told me that one could clean the back of an old a CRT (from a tv
set) with 'eau de colongne' specially when there are some problems with the
high voltage.

Is this true or just a joke?

Thanks for your reactions.

I usually test the auquadag coating with a wet rag to see if it's water
soluable, if it's not then I clean CRT's with a hose, scrubbrush and simple
green, or if they're small enough I run them through the dishwasher. If the
coating is water soluable then I blow them off with compressed air and only
wash the face with glass cleaner.
