Capacitor Bullets

Guest
I have heard stories of people sticking capacitors in electrical sockets in school hallways and having them shoot out. I am interested in making a gun that shoots small capacitors. Does anybody have any information on technology/legality/etc. Any help appreciated in advance.

Capacitors will explode if excessive voltage is applied.

Plugging a capacitor into the wall outlet is about as dumb as holding a lit
fire cracker in your hand.

Why do you want to shoot capacitors out of a gun? That sounds like another
really dumb idea.

In fact Compaq had these scanner keyboards that the caps would explode.

Pack a small tube with gunpowder then make a fuse out the rear. Pack it
with
a few caps then light the fuse. Watch them fly.
Ha! seriously, I plugged a 24v wall wart into a bit of gear requiring 12v
and it took about 30 seconds - the pop was loud and the smoke was plentiful,
lots oily residue on everything as well.

I always thought computer chips made better bullets (especially high current
MOSFETS).

Cheers.

Overloaded an LED once and the top flew off with an almighty *CRACK* and
just missed my eye. Dangerous hobby this!
