We found the TI (Texas Instruments) calculators to be an excellent choice.
They program in a very similar language as basic. If you know basic, this is
an easy calculator to learn to program.

They have models that can be connected up to your PC, to download, program,
and work with as an extension to your computer for math functions. Their
software is very sophisticated, but is easy to use, once you learn it. Their
software is a bit resource heavy, but will work on a well equipped P III
with Win 98, at the very minimum. Their web page offers downloads and
updates. All the software for their calculators, except for some specific
programs are free.
