black line across my lcd monitor

Hi i Have a Dell 1700FP LCD monitor that i have had for 3 years , recently a
black line 2-3 pixels wide has appeared running the width of the monitor 1
inch from the top , is this fixable .

If it's a loose connection at the panel you might get lucky and be able to
fix it by wedging something in on top of the ribbon that connects the driver
to the panel but generally it's very hard or impossible to repair these
things.

Try flipping the computers resolution setting to see if the line moves.
If it does, chances are you have a dead row in the video RAM.
